About the Organization - Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy Since 1981, the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy (Parks Conservancy) has served as the nonprofit partner of the National Park Service, collaborating with the Presidio Trust, partners, donors, and the community to support the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA). The GGNRA stretches across three Bay Area counties north and south of the Golden Gate Bridge and includes iconic places such as Muir Woods National Monument, Fort Point National Historic Site, Alcatraz Island, Crissy Field, Mori Point, Lands End, and the Presidio of San Francisco. About the Role – Director, Technology Strategy & Data Insights We are seeking an innately curious leader to establish and lead our Strategic Insights & Data functions, where you'll play a pivotal role in shaping our strategic direction by harnessing the potential of data across every facet of our non-profit supported by multiple revenue streams. The Director will guide the data & technology team to collaborate with Parks Conservancy staff, ensuring technology serves as a tool to facilitate everyone’s work. This includes transforming how staff contribute to and use data to make informed decisions by increasing the adoption and usage of available technologies. The Director will strike a balance between addressing immediate needs and strategically planning for long-term technological and data-driven projects. The Director, Technology Strategy & Data Insights supervises a team of 3 employees and reports to the COO. Your responsibilities will include: Lead the Data & Technology department, providing mentorship and guidance to foster effective collaboration and professional growth. Evaluate projects and initiatives from an organizational perspective, ensuring adherence to best practices in technology and data management/security. Establish a reimagined Strategic Insights function at the Parks Conservancy, including team design, staffing, systems selection, implementation and integration, and cadence of streamlined reporting. Working collaboratively with the Innovation and Impact team as an internal thought leader in defining the best tools to create sets of processes to compile and disseminate this information to internal and external stakeholders efficiently and understandably. Build tools that effectively communicate and socialize actionable results and findings throughout the organization in a simple and intuitive narrative format. Encourage a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team. Oversee the data and analytics software and systems to provide proactive analysis and support for fundraising as well as member, volunteer, and supporter engagement to steer the strategic direction of the organization based on data programs. Manage third party technology contractors; we are currently partnered with Xantrion, Infobond, AT&T, Comcast along with several others. Provide thought leadership on technology, data tracking, and cybersecurity to ensure alignment with organizational goals. Oversee major technology initiatives, including the implementation of cloud-based tools, development of custom digital solutions, and management of hardware and software. Ensure the successful onboarding and offboarding of employees in relation to technology systems while aligning and coordinating with HR. What You'll Need At least 10 years of progressive experience in strategic intelligence, data management, and technology. Analytics, statistics, and/or database knowledge and experience (using tools, applications, platforms, etc.) Experience managing and leading teams responsible for data and technology. The ability to assert influence in ensuring deadlines are met, and leadership stays on track to critical deliverables or communication timelines. Skilled communicator capable of guiding change management as new technology and practices are adopted. Convey the impact of changes to external and internal, technical and non-technical audiences. The ability to shift seamlessly between strategic, big-picture thinking and operational, nuts-and-bolts systems building. An enthusiasm for efficiency and a focus on constantly looking for ways to improve, streamline, and simplify processes and reduce cost. Who You Are: A Do-er. Compensation and Location The Parks Conservancy provides its employees with a competitive salary that is benchmarked with other non-profit organizations in the Bay Area. Benefits include a competitive suite of medical, dental, and vision plans, up to 3 weeks’ paid vacation plus one week of personal days, plus holiday (11) and sick days (12).This position is full-time, and you must already be based in, or be willing to relocate to, the Bay Area. This role is expected to be on-site at (Fort Mason) three days a week. In the beginning, this may require more time in the office; however, in-office time can be adjusted as needed with the COO’s approval. The hiring range for this position is an annual salary of $155,000-$165,000. The final salary within this range will be determined based on relevant experience.
