Construction Materials Staff Engineer Requisition Number: 2024-1619-04 S&ME is seeking an individual to join our Construction Services team in Augusta, Georgia as a Construction Materials Staff Engineer and help us provide engineering solutions to our clients. What You Will Do: As a Construction Materials Staff Engineer , you play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of construction projects by assessing and verifying the properties and quality of materials used in construction. Working under the supervision of a Licensed Engineer, you will coordinate field explorations, field logging of soil samples, performing engineering calculations/design, preparation of proposals and reports, and project and client support. Reviewing plans and specifications in preparation for field observations on construction sites Documenting field activities, observations, and testing results on projects Daily use of Metafield®, and/or other field and laboratory information management system Calibrating field and laboratory equipment to industry codes and standards Perform Special Inspection observations per the International Building Code (IBC) Communicating daily with management staff, general contractors, and clients Who You Are: You have a bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related field You have 0-2 years of professional experience You have a basic working knowledge of construction plans and specifications You have excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and MicroStation, with the ability to learn commercial software applications You are willing to obtain International Code Council (ICC), American Concrete Institute (ACI), and/or Department of Transportation (DOT) certifications in the fields of aggregate, asphalt, soil, reinforced concrete, and masonry Working Conditions and Physical Demands: You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as: Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions Walking over rough and uneven terrain Standing up to 8 hours a day, up to 12 hours on occasion Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment) Maneuver field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground and around active construction sites Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary Working outside of normal business hours when necessary Who We Are: We are S&ME.
