Position Summary: The Site Health, Safety and Environmental Engineer will support the operations of Safran Aerospace Composites (SAC) and our on-site partner by implementing and championing the Health, Safety and Environmental Program. This position will ensure all SAC practices comply with the Company's requirements and meet all federal, state and local regulations. The position is responsible for creating and implementing the HSE regulatory programs and permitting requirements for the 345,000 square foot Rochester site. Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, this candidate will work closely with the site Facilities Engineer and Continuous Improvement Team to implement initiatives and solutions to further improve the health and safety of all team members. Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions) *Effectively develop, implement, communicate and champion safety policies, guidelines and procedures of the Company, maintaining regulatory compliance in all areas. *Monitor compliance to applicable regulations, codes, Company policies and procedures by inspecting operations, work areas, work practices and reviewing data and reports. Develop safety guidelines and related HSE communications and training/educational information. *Maintain policies and procedures related to HSE, including regular review of: Internal audits External audits of Safran facilities HSE training materials to ensure information is current to regulatory requirements *Review accidents and incidents that occur in the facility and provide root cause analysis and preventative solutions. Fill the role of Alternate Emergency Coordinator; be responsible for implementation of the facility's Contingency Plan. More details can be found in the Hazardous Waste Training Plan located in the HSE office. Chair/Facilitate the Company safety committee. *Maintain Hazardous Waste Coordinator status, manage hazardous waste disposal and compliance. Act as the site Chemical Risks Correspondent. *Develop and maintain all required documentation in an organized and structured manner. *Assist with managing HSE and regulatory audits. Ensure all employees properly understand the importance of safety in the workplace. Manage the Company plant risk management process as well as the Safran HSE standards program. Interface with JV counterpart and manage the implementation of common HSE systems. Designs, redesigns, or enhances work areas and work stations according to Safran OS-Dev and OS-Mfg standards and Lean principles. Collaborates with Continuous Improvement and Facilities Engineers to produce integrated solutions for targeted process improvements. Support VSM management with designs for WIP handling and storage, and design and/or measurement of other VSM parameters mandated by Safran OS-Dev. Implements methods and modifications to reduce production costs. Other duties as assigned. Job Specifications Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related discipline required. No less than five years of relatable experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting. Knowledge of and adherence with applicable laws, regulations, nationally recognized standards and guidelines related to specialized health, safety and environmental functions as required by the position. Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Effective team building, presentation and project management skills required. Demonstrated effective planning, organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to work with minimal direction, meet deadlines and to concentrate and pay attention to detail. Ability to make sound judgments and respond to emergency situations in a calm manner. Travel - as required. Working Conditions/Physical Requirements Work requires: a variety of walking, standing and sitting throughout the day; the ability to use hands to finger, handle, feel; talk and hear; be agile to assist with an emergency situation. Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds occasionally. Lighting and temperature are adequate. Eye protection must be worn in manufacturing areas, approximately 90% of a standard workday. Foot protection must be worn in manufacturing areas, approximately 90% of a standard workday.
