Senior Survey Field Technician (Party Chief)

Location:
Round Rock, TX
Description:

This is not your typical job posting. I was looking through a bunch of comparable jobs and it made me sad. Most of these job listings are “canned” and full of buzzwords. If I was looking for a new job, these posts wouldn’t excite me. So, here is my attempt to find you…the right person for our team. There is only one of you out there and I am looking forward to meeting you. At Inland Geodetics, we pride ourselves on providing accurate, timely, and reliable professional Land Surveying services. With over 20 years in the industry, we are a privately owned, survey-only small business specializing in infrastructure projects for municipalities and civil engineers in the Central Texas Region. Not only are we passionate about the work we do - but also the team we have cultivated. We have built our group on the values of mutual respect, trust, and integrity. If you work here, we can guarantee you'll be respected, treated like a professional, trusted, and given the opportunity to learn, grow, and advance to your fullest potential at work and in life. We are expanding quickly and seeking a Senior Survey Field Technician to join our tight-knit group. This role will work alongside the Office Technicians and RPLS to ensure accurate data processing using our surveying equipment for client projects. The ideal candidate for this role will have proven experience in a field technician role (5+ years), with excellent communication, time management, and task prioritization skills. Does this sound like you? Learn more below! Who we are: We are a group of coworkers who like the outdoors, history, math, Texas, and we happen to do surveys to make a living. We are large enough for stability but small enough to be scrappy and flexible. We are growing and will continue to grow. We plan on running this business for decades with the same team and the same customers built around great people and great systems. We will eventually be the region’s premier and most respected infrastructure survey firm. It will take us a decade, but we will get there. We like to laugh, and we laugh often. We don’t like corporate bureaucracy; we simply trust people instead. We pay really well. 100% company paid premiums for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. Generous paid time off. We want you to be able to retire, so we have a Simple IRA with up to a 3% match. We like education, so we have Tuition reimbursement for survey-related classes. In a typical day, you will: Arrive at 7:00 a.m., ready to roll. Check-in with your party and direct them on the day’s mission. Ensure your vehicle is properly loaded out and your field pack is ready and understood by everyone. We use Trimble Access and TSC5 Data Collectors, with R10 Receivers and Leica Total Stations. If you’re not familiar, we’re willing to train on it. We keep orderly and clean vehicles and equipment; we reserve time every Thursday morning to clean and organize. Outside of Thursday, it’s your vehicle, so do what you want. In the field, take charge of the day’s plan of action and mentor, train, and direct your party. The success of the day and how it gets done is up to you. As long as you have a logical reason for why you did something, we won’t ever get mad about it. We focus exclusively on infrastructure projects for Central Texas governments. Sometimes we’re in the woods, sometimes on highways, sometimes downtown. Everyone arrives back at the office around 3:00 p.m. to download data and debrief the RPLS. We’re usually out of here by 3:30 to 4:00. Who you should be: You have a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience. You are tired of working at jobs where the people don’t really care about the team or the performance. You may be tired of your job at an engineering firm who doesn’t respect surveyors. You like to be around excellence. You like to see the team exceed. You like to work hard and see your talents used to their fullest. You want to find a place where you can hang your hat for the long term. You’re willing to travel up to 15% if needed. We usually take volunteers first. Capable of leading trainings and delegating assignments with clear instruction You have excellent attention to detail. You’re willing to travel approximately 15% of the time (we ask for volunteers first, then assign people if needed, extra daily bonus and overtime when traveling) We’d also love it if you have: Experience with Trimble products, such as Trimble Access on a TSC5 and Trimble R10 Receivers. We use Leica Total Stations for now. A personality. Powered by JazzHR
