Practice Area: Workers' Compensation Law - General, Job Type: Attorney, Firm Type: Law Firm, Experience: 1 Years, Saint Louis office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks workers' compensation attorney with experience. The candidate will defend workers' compensation cases. Will be gathering medical evidence and medical records. Taking depositions of the claimant, physicians, medical experts, and other parties. Conducting discovery, and performing legal research. Remaining current with developments in the law. Drafting pleadings, findings of fact, motions, briefs, opinions, and other legal documents. Litigating cases before a workers' compensation judge or referee. Represent the interests of the employer or insurer at hearings, trials, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations, and other proceedings. Communicate with claims representatives. Monitor loss run reports for trends and increases and alert management to concerns. Assist with the investigation of accidents and problem areas. Manage workers' compensation costs to reduce liability. Compile and submit reports required by company management. Coordinate and attend claims reviews. Negotiate settlements on behalf of the insurance company. Perform other related duties as assigned to EEO guidelines. Proven track record of progressive experience in Workers Compensation defense, General Liability experience a plus. Should have working knowledge of legal principles and practices. Must have in-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Thorough knowledge of legal research techniques and legal terminology is essential. Microsoft Word experience is required; Time Matters legal software experience is preferred. Should be passing the Missouri Bar exam; passing the Bar in another Midwest state is a plus, specifically Illinois.Additional Skills: The candidate must have a J.D. degree. Must have outstanding organizational, interpersonal, research, and administrative skills. Should have excellent attention to detail with the ability to multi-task. Excellent telephone and writing skills are needed. Must be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure. Must have the ability to work as part of a team, as well independently; Organization, Planning, Attention to Detail, and Dependability.
