Description: The selected candidate will support System Safety Engineering efforts for Fighter aircraft. The candidate will support System Safety Program Plan development and execution. Position requires performing analyses for hazard identification, evaluation and control using quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques typically used in the design of aircraft weapon systems and sustainment activities. Typical System Safety Analyses performed include Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), System Safety Analysis (SSA), and others. The candidate will lead contractual effort(s) for the system safety team to meet deadlines with high technical quality; coordinate and collaborate with the internal safety team, product development teams, company leadership, and customer entities; and contribute to the growth of the system safety competency within the team thru on the job teaching and process improvement. The candidate should be capable of overseeing and leading qualitative and quantitative hazard analyses to conduct risk assessments and trade studies needed to evaluate and optimize design choices and recommend appropriate controls to mitigate safety hazards. This position requires extensive interface and coordination of system safety activities with design teams, suppliers, internal management and external customers. The candidate should also have an understanding of adjacent disciplines for efficient collaboration and trade-offs supporting all program objectives. The candidate must be capable of establishing system and software safety requirements in accordance with the appropriate standard and evaluating the functional impacts of noncompliance in coordination with designSMEs.This is considered a technical expert position within the system safety discipline.Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access. Basic Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering or related technical degree.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience with communicating cross-functionallyFull life-cycle experience with system safety analyses, standards, and toolsDemonstrated ability to lead projects and teams in the resolution of highly complex issues, including direct interaction with senior leadership within company and customer organizations and a demonstrated ability to deal with complex and challenging customer and supplier relationships Desired Skills: Military or civilian flight experienceKnowledge of MIL-STD-882, MIL-HDBK-516, ARP-4761, and/or ARP-4754Knowledge of FAA and military regulations and processesPrevious experience writing technical reports on complex subject matterExperience with military or government programsKnowledge of Statistical Analysis MethodsModel-based system engineering (MBSE) experienceExperience working with international customers and suppliersGovernment contract execution experienceExperience with software safety requirements across the full development lifecycle from hazard identification through development to system/software qualification test. Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
