Clinical Lab Scientist Lead : Hematology/Urinalysis

Salary Range:52.61:80.86/hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education. Primary Duties and Responsibilities The Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) Lead performs a range of standard and/or technically demanding procedures and analysis on patient specimens in one or more clinical laboratory disciplines. This role recognizes critical or significant findings, reports test results, and maintains records of patient tests. Also, recognizes technical, instrumental, or physiological problems that could adversely affect test or results, resolves, and documents. Performs calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments. Adheres to quality control protocols to ensure accuracy of results. Monitors the accuracy and precision of all laboratory test personally performed. Actively participates in continuing education programs. Communicates technical and general information to manager, director, laboratory staff and medical staff. Additionally, the Clinical Lab Scientist Lead provides guidance and leadership to CLSs, Medical Lab Technicians, and non:licensed staff including performance management and coaching. Serves as scientific and technical expert. Provides technical, financial and regulatory oversight. Creates staffing schedules. Conducts root cause analysis for nonconforming events. Ensures compliance with DNV, CAP and other regulatory agency standards. Acts as lead on weekends or other periods of reduced staffing. Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct. Supports the laboratory mission. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process. Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures. This knowledge may include the use of specialized instrumentation, quality control requirements, and preventative maintenance. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Baccalaureate Degree in medical technology or related science required. Three to five years relevant clinical laboratory experience as an CLS required. License Required Must meet and maintain current State of California licensure requirements for one of the following.
