Requisition Title: SIA – PHY245H5F Vibrations and Waves (Laboratory & Tutorial Demonstrator) Position Type : Laboratory & Tutorial Demonstrator Course Title : PHY245H5F Vibrations and Waves Course Description : The analysis of vibrating systems and wave motion, introducing mathematical techniques such as complex numbers, eigenvalue problems, and Fourier series. Topics include: simple and coupled oscillators; dispersion relations and boundary conditions; travelling waves; propagation of electromagnetic waves in materials; reflection and transmission of waves at interfaces. Number of Positions (est) : 1 position. Positions are dependent on actual course enrolment, and are not guaranteed. Course Enrolment (est): 60 students Hours of work (est) : 62 hours Class schedule : ttb. utoronto. ca/ Sessional dates of appointment : September 2023 – December 2023 Salary : CUPE3902 Unit 3 Salaries. The rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. Qualifications : M. Sc. in Physics. Sound knowledge in contents covered in the course required. Previous TA/SIA experience working with undergraduate students in Physics setting an asset to be able to demonstrate and deliver course content consistently within the Uof T's standards. Good communication skills are required as well. Description of Duties : Duties will include laboratory demonstrations, leading tutorials, marking laboratory reports, and/or quizzes/assignments. May also include invigilation of term tests and/or final exam.
