Early Childhood Education Float Staff Member

Summary Float staff are responsible for the care and education of a group of children they have been assigned to for their shift. As a member of the Magic Mountain Children?s Center teaching team, float staff will provide support to classroom teachers as needed or directed by the Executive Director. Float staff will be asked to serve a variety of different schedules and may have a changing schedule to meet the needs of the center. Float staff may serve as permanent full-time substitutes and may be asked to cover for both Lead Teachers and Assistant Teachers who are out. Float staff will defer all questions from parents concerning the care of their children or the program to the primary classroom teacher or Executive Director. Float staff will work with other members of the MMCC team to create and support a high quality level of care for children and parents. Duties Responsibilities Implements and facilitates developmentally appropriate activities as planned by the lead teacher Ensures that children are adequately supervised Promotes critical thinking and problem solving Acts without bias and projects sensitivity towards cultural diversity Promotes independence, cooperation and positive self-esteem and self-concept Provides nurturing attention and uses positive approaches to guide behavior Administrative Observes and records the happenings with children Keeps the classroom teacher and Executive Director informed of issues and events pertaining to the program and/or children Keeps track of the children's attendance Assures that the center is kept neat and clean Enforces health policies Communication Provides parents with information about their child's experience for the day Treats parents with respect Requirements Minimum Qualifications At least 18 years of age, and is a high school graduate or has completed a GED 3 Credit College Course in Early Childhood Education or Child Development OR Fundamentals for Early Childhood Educators One year of experience working with young children Ability to relate well with children Nice To Haves CPR/First Aid Benefits Paid Time Off Holidays Sick Time Vacation Time DentalVisionFlexible Spending AccountChild Care DiscountHiring Bonus
