Position description Junior Research Specialist - Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery The Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery and Children's Communication Center is seeking a Junior Research Specialist. Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research and professional activities, and do not have teaching responsibility. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions and may participate in University and Public Service. Specialists appointed at the junior rank must possess (or be in process of obtaining) a bachelor's degree. Applicant's materials must list (pending) qualifications upon submission. Applicants must have obtained the degree requirement for the junior rank by the time of hire. Our laboratory studies hearing in animal models and humans. The ideal candidate will have prior research experience in biological/biomedical sciences or related fields, especially relating to genetics, hearing, deafness, and child development. Job duties include work on basic science and translational research on hearing and deafness. Prior experience with statistical analysis and manuscripts writing is preferable as well. Finally, this position is best suited for someone with enthusiasm for research and translating research finding into clinical applications. See Table 24B for the salary range for this position.
