Job Description Activity Specialist SUPERVISOR: Associated Department Manager DEPARTMENT: TBA FLSA STATUS: Part time/ Seasonal LAST UPDATED: July 13, 2022 LEADERSHIP SUMMARY The Activity Specialist will infuse and model the Girl Scout Law into their everyday work to fulfill the mission of building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. POSITION SUMMARY The Activity Specialist is accountable for the execution, delivery, and support of the program(s) in which they are trained. They are responsible for providing safety instructions to program participants, facilitating and/or supporting sessions, and setting up/taking down program equipment. This is a year-round, part time position, with a flexible schedule. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES Provide safety instructions for all activities in their program focus: Target Sports, ROCC Corner (low ropes challenge course) or Equine. Assist instructors in conducting activities Assist in the upkeep of facilities as needed to deliver Program. Complete regular equipment safety checks Maintain all equipment and complete pre and post session equipment and supply inventory Teach entry-level lessons in associated departments Attend department meetings as scheduled by managing department Follow facility rules and policies Maintain a positive attitude and professionalism with participants, parents, volunteers, and staff SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITIES Staff: None Committee(s): None CULTURAL EXPECTATIONS Professionalism - complying strictly with corporate policies and procedures; conducting oneself with integrity, reliability, and accountability; demonstrating pride in attention to day-to-day work and processes; representing the organization well and being committed to its mission; developing and maintaining relationships with a spirit of inclusion and respect; exhibiting courtesy and attentiveness to the thoughts, feelings, and ideas of others; engaging in courageous conversations by being able to engage considerately with others; representing the organization appropriately and effectively with your words, actions, and appearance Timeliness - being accountable to deadlines and schedules; holding oneself to a high standard of punctuality and preparedness; optimizing personal timetables to accelerate organizational workflow and prevent/reduce inefficiencies of time, resources, and talent; being available and accessible during work hours; showing up for work on time and when you should. KNOWLEDGE AND CREDENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS Required Valid driver's license and safe driving record Program experience within focus area Experience working with youth Comfortable teaching and/or coaching youth Understanding of risk mitigations in associated departments Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Ability to bend, stoop, stand and sit for extended periods Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures for extended periods Comfortable in various weather environments in relation to Outdoor Program. Preferred Knowledge of Girl Scout Leadership Experience Teaching or coaching experience First Aid and CPR certification Experienced USA Archery Instructor preferred for Target Sports focus ABILITY AND SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS Subscribes to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines. Strong human relations skills and have ability to work well with people of diverse backgrounds Ability to exercise good judgement Solution driven with the ability to effectively problem solve HOURS AND TRAVEL Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings Flexible schedule Schedules of associated departments will be sent to activity specialists to be coordinated with their supervisor. **To apply for this position, please go to: www.girlscoutsdiamonds.org
